Note from the Carolingian Marshall of Fence:

New fencers are welcome to join us. Now that Pennsic is over there is a lot of enthusiasm to train for next year.  Many new people make this time an opportunity to train in time to authorize at Birka.

If you would like to join us, please wear long pants that you can easily move in, sweats are fine. You must wear closed toe shoes, such as shoes or sneakers, not sandals or clogs. A tee shirt would be fine, as you will have to wear a fencing jacket over it, or wear garb that has passed the drop test. There is a strict "no skin showing" rule, so you must wear socks that are long enough to cover your ankles and shins when you are moving.

Gentlemen MUST wear an athletic cup.

You have to be at least 18 years old to fence in the SCA.

If you have any non-electric fencing equipment of your own, please bring it with you and it will be inspected by a marshall to see if it meets our safety requirements.

There is no charge for instruction or use of the loaner gear. You do not have to join the SCA in order to play with us. All you need to do is show up with the required clothing, and have a willingness to learn.

You will be required to sign a waiver prior to each practice session.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions, and I look forward to seeing you there.
